Monique Williams has become the first African-American alderperson for the city of Bartlett after being appointed to fill the vacancy left by Bobby Simmons. Simmons resigned from alderman position 4 seat in July due to ongoing health issues. Williams is a business owner with three restaurants operating in Bartlett, Whitehaven, and Cordova. She previously worked for 24 years in clinical research before getting into the restaurant business. She holds a degree from Christian Brothers University and a master’s in health services administration from Central Michigan University.
