Brownsville, Maynardville hold municipal elections in June

June elections were held in two municipalities ahead of a busy slate of municipal elections in August and November. 

A total of 63 municipalities will hold regular and special elections to coincide with the Aug. 6, 2026, state and federal primary elections while 205 will hold either regular or special elections to coincide with the Nov. 3, 2026, state and federal general elections.

BROWNSVILLE 

Voters went to the polls in Brownsville on June 16, 2026.  

Incumbent William “Bill” D. Rawls Jr. ran unopposed and was re-elected mayor of Brownsville with 489 complimentary votes. 

Newcomer Randy D. Holloway defeated fellow challenger Connie Bond Taylor for the Ward 1 unexpired term. Holloway earned 78 votes to Taylor’s 47. The seat had previously been held by Antwan Taylor. 

In the Ward 2 race, newcomer Glynn Hope McGhee defeated fellow challenger Johnnie Robert Coleman 83-44. The seat was previously held by Carolyn Flagg, who did not seek re-election. 

Karen Denise Jones ran unopposed and was elected with 87 complimentary votes to the Ward 4 seat previously held by Travis Pugh, who did not seek re-election.  

MAYNARDVILLE 

A municipal election was held on June 25, 2026, in Maynardville, featuring both a council election and referendum. 

Incumbent Jennipher Ford will be joined by newcomer Ed Williams after defeating challenges Rusty Carr and Danny Smith for the two open seats on Maynardville City Council. Williams led the vote count with 117 followed by Ford with 95, Smith with 60, and Carr with 53.  

Additionally, residents voted 73-68 in favor of permitting retail package stores to sell alcoholic beverages within the city limits.
