Loretta Garner
Loretta Garner has been hired by the University of Tennessee's Municipal Technical Advisory Service (UT-MTAS) to serve as a municipal finance training specialist. Garner will be based in the Nashville office and most recently served as the finance director and city recorder for the city of Mt. Pleasant since 2015. Prior to that, she was a CPA in the private sector, both as a self-employed accountant and with the firm Putman and Hancock. She was also employed as a controller for Allied Crawford Steel in Nashville. Garner also spent nearly five years as the director of financial management for Giles County. Garner holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds a CMFO designation.
