Tennessee municipalities honor public works employees for National Public Works Week
Municipalities across Tennessee are honoring the staffs of their public works departments for the important work these essential employees do in their communities every day as part of National Public Works Week (May 21-27, 2023).
While much of the work done by public works is often behind-the-scenes, the impact of that work can be felt in a very real way in the day-to-day life of citizens. From providing safe water and sewer services, picking up garbage, fixing potholes, paving roadways, building public infrastructure, keeping the power on, to mowing and snowplowing, public works keeps municipalities safe, clean, and enjoyable for all.
APWA is proud to announce "Connecting the World Through Public Works" as the theme for the 2023 National Public Works Week poster. This year’s poster illustrates how public works connects us all through infrastructure and service, enhancing the quality of life for the communities these professionals serve.
