Walter Lee, vice mayor of Orlinda, died suddenly Nov. 6, 2023 at the age of 63. Lee first served as a city commissioner for Orlinda in the early 1990s at the time when the town was transitioning for a three-person commission to a five-member city council. He was also instrumental in creating the city’s rain day fund, which contributed to the city’s ability to later build a new city hall and post office. After leaving the city council for several years, he returned in 2009 and served on the council for 11 years before being selected as vice mayor in 2020. Lee also spent 23 years with Kroger as well as working as a salesman for Gupton Motors.
