Tullahoma Fire Department rescues duck
The Tullahoma Fire Department rescued a duck trapped in an icy pond during recent snow. A local resident discovered one of the male ducks on the bond was partially frozen and stuck to the ice in the pond with nearby ducks swimming nearby and expressing distress. After being unable to free the duck themselves, residents reported the incident to the Tullahoma Fire Department and the Middle Tennessee Raptor Center. Five firemen responded to the scene and were able to retrieve the duck from the pond using waders. The duck was taken to recover in a warm environment for two nights before being returned to the pond. Officials with the Middle Tennessee Raptor Center praised the Tullahoma Fire Department for their quick response.
