Dickson completes first phase, launches second of park project

Dickson City Hall

The first phase of improvements to Dickson’s J. Dan Buckner Park has been completed as the city moves toward the second phase of renovations. The first phase of the project saw a new fenced playground, pavilion with restrooms, two basketball courts, and two courts striped for both tennis and pickleball along with parking and ADA-compliant sidewalks on the eastern side of the park. A formal ribbon-cutting is expected in the spring. The city has contracted with Hoar Construction, LLC, for the second phase of the project, which will reconfigure a larger ballfield into three smaller fields and see the construction of a new concession stand, restroom facility, covered batting facility at the site of the former municipal pool, and a new playground. Financing for the park projects has come in part from a $5.25 million in Local Parks and Recreation Fund grants.
