The city of Norris is expanding its recreation opportunities at the Norris Community Building. Officials have unveiled plans to turn two tennis courts and a disc golf-course at the community facility into a $1 million sports complex, which will add four pickleball courts, a high school regulation basketball court, updated amenities, and improvements to the current tennis courts. The efforts have been buoyed by a $350,000 grant the city received through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund in 2024 and an additional $375,000 from the city’s general fund. Officials said the improvements are the results of a parks and recreation master planning and hope the project will provide a community gathering space and improve local health outcomes.
