Fred Burton

Fred Burton, longtime Lebanon councilman and area radio personality, died June 28, 2026, at the age of 85. Burton served a total of 30 years on the Lebanon City Council between his first election in 1986 and his decision to not seek re-election in 2024. During that time, he also served twice as the city’s mayor pro tem. Upon his retirement from the city council, the Fred Burton Community Park was named in his honor. A Korean War veteran, Burton spent 22 years working for Toshiba America and 16 years for TRW. He also owned a local barbershop and record shop at different times. However, he was best known as a disc jockey on WCOR-AM and WANT-FM radio in Lebanon.
