Sherry Green

Sherry Green, former mayor and member of the La Vergne Board of Mayor and Aldermen, died Aug. 17, 2026, at the age of 87. Green was first elected to the board in 1996, serving as an alderwoman until she was selected as vice mayor in 2000. In 2004, she was elected mayor of La Vergne and served in that role until 2006, when she returned to her seat as an alderwoman. She again served as vice mayor from 2014 until her retirement in 2018. In her 22 years of public service, Green was a strong supporter of city employees as well as senior citizens, serving on the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee.
