Knoxville receives GFOA distinguished budget award
The Knoxville Finance Department has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This marks the 39th consecutive year the city has been recognized with this honor by GFOA. The award is “the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting,” and the city received extra notice for its long-range operating financial plans. An impartial panel of three peer professionals all gave the highest possible score for both the work to effectively and openly present the budget and the budget’s use as a financial blueprint, policy document, operations guide, and means of communication.
