State officials dedicate Buffalo River State Park

A group of people, including uniformed park rangers, pose beside a large wooden sign that reads "Buffalo River State Park – Established 2026." Two rangers sit on horses on either side of the sign. The group is in an open grassy field with trees and a clear blue sky in the background.

Officials have dedicated Buffalo River State Park near Linden as the 69th Tennessee State Park. The 448-acre property near the Perry-Wayne county line includes the largest horseshoe bend on the Buffalo River and will feature more than two miles of river frontage. While park access is currently limited, $34 million has been set aside in the state budget for the development of a visitor center, campground, maintenance facility, roadways, visitor access, and other amenities.  As the longest unimpounded river in Middle Tennessee, the Buffalo River supports diverse wildlife, with 48 documented rare species of plants and animals found in the area. Recreational opportunities at the park will include paddling, fishing, hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing.
