Morristown receives Main Street America designation

The Morristown Chamber Downtown Program has earned a designation as an Accredited Main Street America Program. In order to earn the designation, programs must show an exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the Main Street Approach. In addition to being evaluated by the national program, the Morristown Downtown Program is also annually evaluated by the Tennessee Main Street Program. In the past year, the city has created a new downtown program and hired a new Main Street director as well as created a task force team focused on downtown. Grants have been received to revitalize historic buildings and several events, like the Morristown Farmers Market, have boosted business in the area.
