David Schreiner

David Schreiner, former mayor and councilman for the city of Gallatin, died Aug. 6, 2026, at the age of 86. Schreiner was first elected to the Gallatin City Council in 1980 and then served as mayor from 1985 to 1989. A native of Kentucky, he graduated Southeastern Christian College Bible Institute with a degree in biblical studies in 1962 then earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He moved with his family to Gallatin in 1967 after accepting a ministry position at Gallatin Church of Christ, serving as an associate minister, youth minister, worship leader, deacon, and elder at the church. He also worked alongside church leaders to construct Christian Towers, Gallatin’s first senior living community, in 1978, and helped found what is today the Gallatin Economic Development Agency.
