NLC honors Kluth for years of service

TML Director of Corporate Sponsorship and Conference Expo Debbie Kluth has been honored by the National League of Cities (NLC) with an award for 25 years of service.

Kluth was presented with NLC’s John G. Stutz Award for her “contributions made to the advancement of municipal government through outstanding and faithful service rendered to cities and state municipal leagues.”

Kluth began her tenure that TML in 1990 as a production manager and took over her current role in 1997. Her name will be added to a large plaque at NLC headquarters that contains the names of all recipients of the award since it was first bestowed in 1981. 

The Stutz award is presented by NLC to individuals who have served a total of 25 years or more on the staff of a state municipal league, state league risk pool, and/or NLC. 

Designed to recognize the contributions of long-time league and pool staff member the award is named in honor of John G. Stutz, who convened representatives of ten state municipal leagues in 1924 in Lawrence, Kan. for the first meeting of what was to become the American Municipal Association and, subsequently, the National League of Cities. At that time, Stutz was the Executive Secretary (League Director) of the League of Kansas Municipalities.
