Oak Ridge Fire Department receives highest ISO rating

The Oak Ridge Fire Department has achieved an Insurance Services Office (ISO) Public Protection Classification rating of 1, putting it among the nation’s highest-rated departments. ISO evaluates communities by examining factors surrounding a department’s abilities to respond to fires and protect lives and property with a Class 1 the highest rank possible. The ISO evaluation process assesses the department’s capabilities, staffing, training, equipment and emergency response as well as the community’s water supply and emergency communications systems. In addition to showcasing the department’s readiness in times of emergency, higher ratings lower fire insurance premiums for residents and businesses in the community.
