Cross Plains Fire Department receives improved ISO rating

The Cross Plains Fire Department has received a Class 6 Insurance Services Office (ISO) Public Protection Classification for inside the city limits and a 6X for areas outside the city limits. The ISO system operates on a system ranking from 1 to 10 with 1 being the highest. The ISO evaluation of a community’s local fire-protection services to help insurance companies set property insurance rates. This new ranking makes an improvement from a 10 ranking, which the Cross Plains Fire Department held from 1994 until their most recent evaluation in 2022. The new evaluation reflects improvements in the fire department, as well as in emergency communications, community risk reduction, and other areas of fire protection.
