J. Blake Anderson

J. Blake Anderson, the longest-serving municipal judge in the city of Jackson’s history, died Sept. 5, 2026, at the age of 71. Anderson was first elected municipal judge for the Jackson City Court in 1996, serving until his death. A Jackson native, he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of the South in 1978 and later earned his law degree from the University of Memphis’ Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 1983. He served as city attorney for Three Way, defending against the city’s annexation. During his career in Jackson, he founded the city’s mental health, drug recovery, domestic violence, and environmental courts
