Tennessee April 2024 unemployment returns to record-low rate

Tennessee has tied its all-time lowest unemployment in the month of April with 3.1%. New data from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) found the state’s April 2024 data is the same record low as it was from April through June 2023. The state reported a growth of 5,100 nonfarm jobs in April 2024. The trade, transportation, and utilities sector accounted for the largest increase in new jobs followed by the education and health services sector, and thirdly by the leisure and hospitality sector.
