Tennessee's Digital Opportunity Plan approved by NTIA

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) announced the approval of the state’s Digital Opportunity Plan. The department has been allocated $15.8 million to implement the plan, which supports digital skilling and workforce development programs. With this approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), TNECD can begin deploying the allocated funding. TNECD’s ongoing efforts to expand broadband are part of a broader strategy to ensure that all residents have access to high-speed internet by 2028, and have opportunities to develop digital skills, access high-quality tech jobs, connect to broadband enabled devices and access online learning and telehealth resources. TNECD anticipates that applications for digital opportunity grants will open in the second quarter of 2025.
