Kingsport breaks ground on IMAX upgrades

Officials with the city of Kingsport and the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce held a groundbreaking ceremony August 20 for a new IMAX theater slated to be built at the Fort Henry Mall. The new theater is expected to be open by mid-summer 2026. The NCG Cinema will upgrade its existing space, adding all new luxury seats and elevated concession options for patrons. City officials believe the new IMAX theater will be a "game changer" for the future of the Fort Henry Mall.
