Charles Knapper
Charles Knapper, the first mayor of Nolensville after the town was reincorporated, died May 29, 2026, at the age of 74. After the referendum that reincorporated the town in 1996, Knapper was elected the first mayor and served from 1996 to 2006. During these formative years, he helped establish the foundation of local government and establish the core values that would continue to shape Nolensville. A native of Winchester, Knapper held a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and then received his nurse practitioner degree from Vanderbilt University. He was also a certified registered nurse anesthetist. Knapper worked at various medical facilities through Middle Tennessee as well as traveled to multiple states as a traveling nurse.
