ADA accessibility improvements slated for Hendersonville park
A new project will add more accessibility to Hendersonville’s Sanders Ferry Greenway. The project will focus on the area surrounding the park lot at Spade Leaf Boulevard and Sanders Ferry Road, improving erosion issues by regrading a slope and reseeding. Curbing along the parking areas, ADA-accessible sidewalks from the crosswalk to the greenway, and additional sidewalks from the parking lot to the greenway will also be added. The parking area has become popular both for access to the greenway and local restaurants. Of the $96,000 budgeted for the project, $60,000 is being covered by public infrastructure funds created by a sales tax referendum. The city consulted with members of the running and biking community as well as the Hendersonville Lakeshore Committee to develop the project.
