Officials and community members in Loretto buried a time capsule that will be removed in 50 years’ time. A project of Loretto Lift-Up and the Loretto History Museum, the project commemorates both the 250th anniversary of America and replaces a previous time capsule buried in 1986 that was planned to be opened during the nation’s bicentennial in 1996. However, the 1986-time capsule has yet to be relocated. The new capsule has been buried at Loretto’s Weathers Park near the Veterans’ Memorial and will be opened in 2076.
