Dr. Lisa Piercey

Dr. Lisa Piercey will leave her role as commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Health to enter the private sector on May 31. Piercey started her role as commissioner in January 2019 and provided public health leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to her role in the department, Piercey spent a decade in health systems operations with roles at West Tennessee Healthcare and West Tennessee Medical Group. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Lipscomb University, and a medical degree and pediatrics residency training from East Tennessee University Quillen College of Medicine, and a master’s of business administration from Bethel University.
