Franklin celebrates German Reunification with Sister City

Franklin

Officials with the city of Franklin welcomed a delegation from their sister city of Bad Soden, Germany, for a celebration of German Reunification Day at Franklin City Hall. The holiday commemorates Oct. 3, 1990, when the German Democratic Republic (GDR) joined the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) after 41 years divided. Speakers included Franklin Mayor Ken Moore, Tennessee State Rep. Sam Whitson, the Honorary Consul for the state of Tennessee to Germany, Doug Berry, and Deputy Mayor of Bad Soden Felix Fischer. Bad Soden and Franklin became sister cities in 2016. Delegations from the German town have traveled to Franklin three times over the last six years, and Franklin representatives have traveled to Bad Soden three times as well.
