Knoxville breaks ground on new dog park
Officials with the city of Knoxville, the Boyd Foundation, and community members broke ground on the new dog park at Sam Duff Memorial Park, the first of five new such parks in the city funded by the Boyd Foundation. The new dog park will include separate areas for small and large dogs as well as some basic park features including sitting benches, water stations and three to five obstacles for the dogs to enjoy. Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon attended the groundbreaking with her own dog, Romeo. Corryton/Gibbs, Fountain City, Fourth and Gill, Halls, Holston Hills, Karns, New Harvest park, Oakwood/Lincoln Park and Powell. Other upgrades being planned for Sam Duff Memorial Park included ADA-compliant restrooms and new sidewalks.
